Fast and loose translation of the beginning of the text:
Until now, physicians educated in the EU/EEA have been able to apply for a Swedish medical license if they had a Swedish language knowledge of level B2, corresponding to six months of full-time studies.
Those who were educated elsewhere needed level C1, however, which could take years to achieve.
The patient safety ordinance, which went into effect on April 15th, says that all non-Swedish medical graduates are to have the same, high level of Swedish language knowledge before they can be granted a Swedish medical license - EU/EEA physicians included.
