Tjena :glad: Since I posted the last time, I got my M.D. and I dedicated myself to Swedish. I'm working towards B2 and I'm really satisfied with my progress. I did not apply for a Swedish licence yet, given the new C1 level requirement. As I said, I'm not sure I can reach C1 without being there and ...

Tjena, Dennis igen! I got an answer from Socialstyrelsen. It seems that according to the new Swedish legislation (April 2016), Socialstyrelsen isn't allowed to issue a licence to practise without having assured that the applicant has 'sufficient language skills'. However, 'sufficient language skills...

Tack för ditt svar! I will contact Socialstyrelsen and see if it's possible to apply in this case. If not, I will try a different strategy. I understand it's possible to work as underläkare being a EU-licensed (but not Sweden-licensed) MD; that would still be medical training (non-ST though) while l...

Hej :glad: I don't know if something changed since I last looked (Sep 2015), but I verified now the requirements of Socialstyrelsen for applying for a licence and it says "Swedish C1". I've learned Swedish for a year now, but I can't say I'm somewhere near C1. Moreover, I don't really thin...

PhD and residency are separate processes. In fact, a PhD is often recommended as a merit for getting into a residency at a university hospital. It should be quite possible to pursue a PhD. I realise they are separate processes. I just thought that I would rather pursue a PhD first, and then see abo...

Romania - specialist medical training in Sweden
Hej!
What do you know about taking a PhD in Sweden? Is it possible to do only this, without applying for ST? I'm asking because I'm really interested in research (mainly in Psychiatry) and it would not bother me to work solely as a researcher.
Tack!

@aliahmed Here (http://www.ltdalarna.se/en/Start/Career/Vacancies/) is the link for the website, you just have to click on Show contact and you will find there the e-mail addresses you need. I don't think you can apply for a job without having at least a B2 level. Regarding the language level, I am ...

I will send a message to Dalarna and I will keep you posted! Hej, sorry for the absence. I got an answer from a nice gentleman in Dalarna. Regarding the language level, he said I would need a B2 level, but if my Swedish is not good enough, they have a language school who can help students from abro...

Hej :glad: My name is Denis, I am an EU citizen currently studying Medicine in Romania. I will obtain my medical license in September 2016 and I plan to practice Medicine in Sweden. Therefore, I already started learning Swedish and I plan to get to a decent language level until next year. I read a g...
