Congratulations!

If you do end up getting 1.60 or 1.65, on top of 22.50, you might be admitted even to the Karolinska Institute through the BII quota; the last three spring semesters all ended up at somewhere in the 1.20-1.50 range...

It looks like I got a 1.60 or a 1.65 on today's högskoleprov. Definitely got a 2.0 on the math but am not sure whether I'll get a 1.2 or 1.3 on the verbal (got 53/80). Wish it were higher, but the Swedish vocab and reading comprehension kills me; lack of time becomes a big issue for me in läsförståelse as there are many words I don't know.

Hey Nils,

Thanks for your reply! I'm not sure which quota I've qualified for. If I understand the system correctly, I'm guessing I will be evaluated in the BII quota, given that I took some of the required science courses later at university. I assume these would qualify as "kompletteringar" and therefore put me in BII. At least it's good to know there's still hope even if I don't ace the Högskoleprov.

Hey bluejay43!

The BIII quota has been abolished and absorbed into the regular high school grade quotas.

Do you know whether you qualified for the BI or the BII quota? I would guess the BII quota but if you were to be considered qualified for the BI quota, it could make a lot of difference.

Assuming that you are competing in the BII quota (with 20.00 + 2.50), you should still have a good chance of admission at most of the Swedish medical schools even if you do not get a high score on the SweSAT (högskoleprovet). Last spring, all of them except for the Karolinska Institute and Uppsala University had admission scores lower than 22.50 in the BII quota (in which case the SweSAT score does not influence your chances of admission through the BII quota).

If you were competing in the BI quota with 22.50, you could possibly be admitted even to the Karolinska Institute regardless of your SweSAT score.

Hey guys!

I have an update. It looks like I will be granted behörighet for my foreign university science classes. I was also given the maximum number of points (20) for my foreign high school grades. Does anyone know if the BIII quota for utländska betyg has been abolished? I read the following on the government website and have become a bit concerned:

http://www.regeringen.se/sb/d/14061/a/172466

Am taking the högskoleprov this weekend but am now concerned that I will have to compete directly with Swedish students, the best of whom I know will ace the exam (especially the Swedish part, where I'm just so-so).

Here are my thoughts. Antagningsservice is the keeper of all academic records. They want original verified transcripts from your school. I believe they will also get an official copy of the paper from UHR and it will be added to "your records" on file with them. Once they have everything, it will be in their records and any Swedish school can see what you have for grades and merit points.

I hope this helps.

I would guess that the UHR assessment was more of a preliminary evaluation, while Antagningsservice is more about the actual application itself.

I am not personally familiar with the application process using foreign grades, however, so hopefully someone else reading this will be kind enough to share their experiences and insights...

Nils, could you kindly offer your opinion as to my situation? I talked to the guy at UHR again today, and he told me to have everything, including my foreign university transcripts, sent to Antagningsservice in Strömsund. Apparently I also have to have my high school send my diploma and transcript directly to Antagningsservice as well, so I don't understand why I went through all the trouble of having my high school grades assessed by UHR...
